 The key to consistency and accurate tennis technique is nothing but hitting the ball at the right time and at the right contact point. You can learn this technique by playing tennis just slightly behind the expected contact point instead of practicing strokes with a full turn and the back swing.

 Once you become more comfortable and consistent in playing tennis from the contact point and extending forward, you can start learning the basic follow through technique. You need to keep playing the mini tennis, whilst preparing your strokes and adding up the follow-through technique on each stroke.

 After becoming more consistent in playing mini tennis with modified stroke technique, now comes the split step. It is basically a type of footwork that needs to be present on every shot you are receiving. The key for the split step is proper timing. It includes jumping slightly off the ground and split your feet wide in the air and land in the same position. This technique will help you to push off the ball in any direction in any directly very quickly.

Now, you should start playing tennis about a three-forth distance from the net, before increasing the distance from the net. At this stage, you will learn about different techniques of strokes such as the forehand, two-handed backhand and one-handed backhand.
